*The perfect trip for families, open water students, and experienced FUN divers!!
Florida Springs is located in central Florida, approximately 90 miles from Orlando. Diving is in clear spring fed freshwater with a year round temperature of 72 degrees. Dive sites include Ginnie Springs, Devil’s Den, Rainbow River, and Catfish Hole. Depths range from 10 to 60 feet, making it a great place to dive for both the novice and advanced diver. Wildlife to see include tarpon, mullet, flounder, catfish, turtles, garr, white and blue herons, and kingfishers.
Ginnie Springs- is a large underground system with entrances at the Main Ballroom (with an excellent view out from the interior), Devil’s Ear, Devil’s Eye, and Little Devil that are all available to non-cave divers to check out, but entrance is not allowed.
Devil’s Den- is a unique spring fed sink. It has ancient rock formations, stalactites and fossil beds to see. On cold days you can see steam rising from the sink, which gave rise to the name, Devil’s Den.
Rainbow River- is a drift dive, like diving in an aquarium. A boat takes you a mile up the river, and you drift back down. Plentiful river grass filters the water, making it crystal clear. On a sunny day the reflected water takes on a myriad of colors.
Catfish Hole- is an optional night dive. As the name indicates, there are lots of catfish. Night certification is not required. Great for first-timers!
The Manatee Experience- Manatee are mammals related to elephants that can hold their breath for 20 min. These gentle giants are almost extinct, so getting up close and personal is a real treat. The day with the manatees is a snorkel only (the bubbles from divers scare them!) in the spring fed Crystal River.
