About 3 years ago we, at Lynnhaven Dive Center, started to require that all of our divers carry Dive Insurance.  Not because we thought we could make money off of it, but because it would provide medical coverage for all of our divers in case of a dive accident.  Nobody plans on getting hurt on a dive, just like nobody plans to get in a car accident, but when disaster strikes we want all of our divers to be covered.  Both DAN and Diveassure offer the kind of coverage that we require our divers to carry. With Recompression treatments and Helicopter evacuations a $90 dollar dive trip can turn into a six figure accident.
