Why do they call it SCUBA?
SCUBA stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Appartus.
How old do I have to be to SCUBA Dive?
10 years or older. We also offer Scuba Camp for younger underwater enthusiast.
How good of a swimmer do you have to be to dive?
You don’t have to be an Olympic Swimmer to become a recreational SCUBA Diver, but you do have to pass some basic swim tests
What equipment do I need?
Your own mask, booties, snorkel and fins, weight belt with weight (hood and gloves recommended for open water dives).
Is Scuba Diving dangerous?
Scuba is a safe and fun family sport as long as you are properly trained.
Why do my ears hurt when I go to the bottom of the pool?
It is very simple to “Equalize” the pressures using techniques that you will learn in your Scuba class to avoid pain and possibility of a ruptured eardrum. Diving should not be painful.
How long does my certification last?
Certifications never expire. If it has been several years since your last dive, a refresher course is recommended to make your skills and knowledge current.
I lost my card, how do I get a new one?
A replacement certification card can be issued by the agency that you received your original card from. Or come by LDC Adventure Outfitters for help.

What is the difference between SSI, PADI, NAUI, TDI, ect.?
All of the above certifying agencies are authorized to issue certification cards and sell educational materials. All certifications are nationally and internationally recognized world wide. The instructor that you will receive is consistant through the Scuba industry and regulated by RSTC. Recreational Scuba Training Council
I am a Military Diver and I don’t have a civilian certification card. How do I get one?
An Experienced Diver Class allows non card holding divers to gain a certification card. You will complete a refresher course (academic, and pool), the open fifty question test, and perform an open water dive with an instructor.
What if I do not want to get certified in Virginia Beach?
You can complete class and pool work in Virginia Beach and get a letter of referral that will allow you to be certified anywhere in the world.
When do I do my Open Water Dives?
Your instructor will give the process regarding the 4 open water dives needed to complete your underwater dive certification.
How long do I have to complete my open water dives?
You have 6 months from the time you complete your classroom and pool sessions to complete your 4 open water certification dives.
How deep can I go with my open water certification?
130ft is the sport diving limit. SSI recommends that you go no deeper than 100ft. Anything over 60ft is considered Deep Diving and a specialty class should be done before deeper dives are attempted.
How many days of diving is required for certification?
2 full days of diving.
I am not familiar with Virginia diving, can I hire a dive guide?
Dive guides are available to lead tours on our boat. Call LDC Adventure Outfitters for fees and guide availability.

Swim Lessons
How do I sign my child up for Swim Lessons?
After deciding what class you child should take, call or stop by the shop and sign your child up for classes. We also recommend signing your child up for 2 lessons for continued education. To reserve your spot in the class, payment must be paid in full.
